How Long Have You Played Disc Golf?
I started throwing back in 2000, just chucking around with friends for a few years. I took a few years off and started again in 2006 and started playing in tournaments in the spring of 2007 at the River City Rumble. I fell in love with the sport at that point and now i can't play enough!
Most Memorable Win?
Well I've only had two wins (in Intermediate) so both were pretty memorable. The first was at the '07 GVCCC. It was the first time i was on the lead card for the second round. I was in a tie for second place, down by one stroke and played a fairly solid round of golf. The other guys didn' t play so well, so it was more them giving it away then me actually winning. My other win was at the '08 Southeast Iowa DGO. I was on the lead card the whole way and was battling with Karma for first place for all 4 rounds. I went into the final round with a one stroke lead and shot lights out! Very proud of that one!
Most memorable tourney?
My first tournament was the '07 River City Rumble, and was by far my most memorable tourney. The RCR is a great event and was a great way for me to start playing sanctioned events. I got to meet a lot of people involved with disc golf in the area and make new friends in the sport. All in all a great experience.
My Most Memorable Event:
The RCR is obviously up there along with any local tourney, we have many great events and great people in the QC area! The Worlds has to be my favorite though. I've played in one and watched another, and both were an amazing experience. That many people in one area that all are passionate about disc golf is an amazing thing. Other favorites include the GVCCC and the K9 Karnival, I've played both the past two years and look forward to playing them again. Also Iron Lion's King of the Courses events are always fun and a great way to compare my self to others in the area over the course of the whole year.
My Favorite Course(s)?
My Disc Golf Goals?
If you want to get better you have to actively pursue getting better. Go play leagues and local events, and listen to what the pros have to say, you'd be surprised what you can learn just by listening to these guys. Find a pro and ask if you can get a lesson, most will be happy to help you out for a small charge. There are also lots of web sites where you can discuss form, technique, and disc selection, including this site, iowadg.com, and discgolfreview.com. One thing that has helped me out a lot was helping install Camden II. After listening to the designer's ideas of how each hole was supposed to play and then actually making it happen, it opened my eyes to how you make your shot selection and the way to make a smart "mistake". It does help that the designer was Chris Sprague, i think! haha
