The East Moline Family Volunteer Corps (EMFVC) is spearheading a campaign to install a 10 hole Disc Golf Course at Butterworth Park by Soule Bowl in East Moline. One of those holes will be a practice hole. Disc Golf is an advanced form of playing Frisbee. It has become a legitimate international sport. Although Butterworth is our largest park, discounting Northeast Park, it will only support this size course. We do believe that this half course will still provide many opportunities to introduce this growing sport to new enthusiasts, allow a challenge to the veteran player and provide the local schools another avenue in their physical education programs.
The EMFVC has been in existence for more than five years. In that time we have sponsored many fundraisers for the city parks. All of our proceeds go back to the community.
Disc Golf is our current endeavor. We, of course, need to go to the business sector for a project of this size. We strive to give you as much recognition as possible for your support. For an investment of $1000 you will be purchasing the promotion rights for one of the holes. Through a local business, we are having custom plaques made for each hole. These will be posted at the launch pad (tee pad) along with a map designed for the shape of each hole. Even though the sign is made of rugged, durable plastic compound, we will replace any damaged signs for a three year period at the expense of the EMFVC.
Should you or your company be interested in a sponsorship, please remit your donation to the EMFVC c/o Hazel Brown, 4051 4th Street A, East Moline, Il 61244. If you have any questions, please call Carol Doose at 912-7282 or Gail Fegter at 792-6219.
With sincere appreciation,
Erwin Millen, EMFVC Chairman
