The course was designed to create an exciting playing experience for disc golfers of all ages and skill levels. There are two basket locations for each hole; the "short" positions are beginner friendly as well as making fun "ace" runs for other players. The "long" basket locations will challenge even the more advanced players and shooting even par will take a good round. Most of the holes will have a second tee pad added at a later date, adding yet another variation to each hole. The two tee pads, as well as the ability to move the baskets between the long and short locations, will ensure that every round at the new course will have a different look and challenge. With the use of tight and fast greens, varying elevation, and of course the holes that run along the pond, this will be a course that players will love to play and will keep coming back to time and time again!
East Moline has joined the legion of local communities getting involved in the fast growing sport of disc golf with the opening of the new course in Butterworth Park. The neighborhood park is a perfect location for a small nine hole disc golf course, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. The City of East Moline, working along side the members of the East Moline Volunteer Corps, came together to fund the new park as well as help with the installation. The design for the course was put together by local disc golfers, and truly takes advantage of the many great features the park has to offer.
Butterworth Course Opens May 16, 2008
